Cheapest times to send
0.9.53What it has cost to get into a block at each hour of the week, from the blocks our own node has seen over the last four weeks.
In one sentence
For every hour of the week, the median of the fee rate that reliably got into blocks mined in that hour, over the last four weeks.
How it's worked out
- For every block, our node works out the fee-rate percentiles from each transaction's exact fee rate. (Bitcoin Core's own figures are rounded to whole sat/vB, which reads as 0 for most blocks at today's fees; they are used only for older blocks.)
- The 10th percentile is used as "the rate that reliably got in". The very bottom of a block often holds odd cases, such as a pool's own payouts, so the 10th percentile is a truer floor than the minimum.
- Blocks are grouped by hour of the week on the viewer's own clock, and each slot shows the median.
Known limits
- Four weeks gives about four samples per slot, so a single fee spike can move a slot.
- A dashboard that has been running for less than four weeks has less to go on; the card's note says how many days it actually covers.
- "Cheap on Sunday mornings" is a habit of the market, not a promise.
