The Ordinals and Runes market indexes
0.9.53One number each for the Ordinals and Runes markets, both starting at 100, equal-weighted and averaged geometrically across ten members.
In one sentence
Each index is the geometric average of ten members' prices relative to where they started, so 112 means the basket is 12% above its starting point.
As of 2026-10-22, the Atrium XBT Runes index stood at 78.3, from 10 members. As of 2026-10-22, the Atrium XBT Ordinals index stood at 97.6, from 10 members.
Ordinals
- Members: the ten collections our own node saw sell most by value over 30 days, each with at least 10 clean sales in that time.
- Price: each collection's daily median sale price, from our own sales, with wash-flagged sales and outliers left out (see collections). A day priced more than 5 times away from the collection's own typical price is treated as bad data and skipped; quiet days carry the last price.
- History: rebuilt from our sales every run, like the Runes index. Days follow the viewer's own calendar. (Before 12 October 2026 this index was built from an outside marketplace's floor prices.)
Runes
- Members: the ten runes our own node saw trade most by value over 30 days, with wash-flagged trades left out (see wash-trade flags).
- Liquidity rule: a member must have traded at least 30 times, on at least 60% of the days.
- Price: each rune's daily median price per token, from our own sales (see rune sales). A day priced more than 5 times away from the rune's own typical price is treated as bad data and skipped.
- History: rebuilt from our trade history every run. Days follow the viewer's own calendar.
Why equal-weighted and geometric
Equal weight means a small collection counts as much as a big one, so the index measures the breadth of the market rather than one giant. The geometric average keeps one member's wild day from dragging the whole number.
Known limits
- Things that faded are not in either basket, which flatters the past a little (survivorship bias).
- Both baskets are today's top ten, tracked back.
- A collection's daily median moves with which items happened to sell that day, so a thin day can swing it.
- Both indexes use only our own node.
